Topeka First UMC News, Info., & Events, March 28, 2025
Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great week! Coming up this weekend in worship we will continue our Lenten sermon series "Giving Up to Create Space." This week we will focus on giving up judgement. Throughout Jesus' ministry there are many occasions where he is criticized or judged. On Sunday, we will see the judgement of others and think about how we handle both judging others and being judged ourselves. After the 10:45 am service is finished, I hope you'll plan to join me at the Informational Luncheon for the Be the Bridge Capital Campaign! Send Shawna an email if you haven't already signed up. Scott Beck has put forth great effort again this year in "That Night in The Upper Room." I encourage you to sign up to attend one of the sessions this coming week! Youth Dinner Theatre Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support our Youth Dinner Theatre last weekend! Your presence, laughter, and generosity made the night so special. Our youth worked hard, and it means the world to have a community that believes in them. Because of your contributions, we were able to surpass our goal, raising over $5,800! Thanks for showing up and making it all possible! Want to watch the youth’s performance? Click here to see their skits recorded. |

Kid's Ministry NewsGod Given Super Hero Powers! The Kids at Topeka First, have been learning to be Super Heros! We are training hard, using our Superpowers that God gives us, to learn Bible Verses. Each week, we have been learning a different verse. Our super powers that God has given us are – Prayer, Peace, Joy, Faith, Life, Trust, Invisibility, Replication, and Invincibility. Each week, we use different skills to learn new Bible Verses. The pictures below show us: Using our superfast skills, to say all of our Bible Verses before the spinner stops. With super powers like Batman, we were aiming to hit scripture on the wall. We then said the Bible verse closest to where it landed. Using our time travel powers, we rolled a marble through a Bible verse that is in a maze. With superspeed, we lined up all the words in a Bible verse in order. Using our superpower, agility, we took aim and landed on parts of the scripture, in order of the verse.
With superhuman strength, we built our Bible Verse in a structures, using straw and paper. And then we worked on our speed putting our Bible Verse together. |
