Topeka First News, Jan. 2; Order of Worship for Jan. 4; Council of Bishop LetterTopeka First UMC: Your Bridge to God, One Another, and the Community Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great week! Happy New Year! With the impending weather forecast for the weekend, we have moved worship to Saturday, Jan. 4, at 10:00 am. You are welcome to join us at 10 am in-person or watch the service anytime throughout the weekend via our website. The church building will be closed on Sunday. Our sermon series to begin 2025 is called "Be the Bridge." This serices will help us live into our new mission statement: "Topeka First UMC: Your Bridge to God, One Another, and the Community." Over the next five weeks, each service will focus upon one of the key practices of being a member of our church: prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. This Saturday, Jan. 4, at 10 am, we will discuss the power of prayer in Scripture. I hope that you will join us Saturday at 10:00 am or anytime this weekend through the live stream on our website. If you'll be watching online, click here for the order of worship for this Saturday! Shawna normally sends the bulletin and order of worship to a group of folks who regularly worship online so if you're traveling or would like it sent to you each week, let her know. As we begin 2025, please take time to sign up to help greet and hand out bulletins before the service you usually attend. Additionally, the 2025 Liturgist schedule is now open! Both links remain the same throughout the year. By clicking on this link, you can read a letter that The The Council of Bishops has written to all UMC's related to the plight of migrants, immigrants and refugees. The letter includes a plea for all United Methodists to pray for people in these situations and to welcome them in the fullness of Christian love. Please take time to read the letter this weekend. Blessings, Pastor Brad ---- Wed., Jan. 22: Wednesday evening activities resume for children & youth
