Greetings TFUMC,

I hope that you are having a great week!

The Youth Mission team leaves for our mission trip on Saturday morning. We will be working next week in Salyersville, Kentucky. I would invite you to be in prayer for the 26 people on the mission team. We will try to post pictures and updates on facebook throughout the week.

Because I will be traveling with the youth mission team, Rev. Jenny Collins will be preaching on Sunday. Rev. Collins is the East Central Kansas District Superintendent. The title for Sunday's message is “Warning – Slow Down.” Pastor Sandra will be leading the rest of worship.

In the next few weeks, we will be working with KBS Construction to finalize a timeline for the renovation projects inside the building. We are very close to beginning our inside projects! We have had a number of you ask about buying a pew from the Chapel. (23) pews are 13 1/2', (3) pews are 9 1/2', & (1) pew is 10' long. We can make arrangements to deliver the pew to a local address if necesary. If you are interested, sign up at the Connection Desk!

I would invite you to be in prayer for everyone affected by the floods in Texas and New Mexico. To support UMCOR in their relief efforts in the affected areas, please use this link and click the blue button "donate now" on the UMCOR website. It is much faster to donate directly to UMCOR than it is to write a check to the church. UMCOR will send you a donation receipt.

Since the Mobile Access Partnership (MAP) has moved to it's new location at Let's Help, 245 SW MacVicar, there is a different way to sign up to volunteer. Topeka Rescue Mission (who supplies volunteers for MAP) sent this information to us "Here is the link for volunteers to join our TRM hub called VOMO. Once they are registered with us, they will be able to join MAP. We do ask them to come to a volunteer orientation also. We provide the volunteers for MAP."  If you have questions, please contact Suzie Paslay  at Topeka Rescue Mission.

I'd like to highlight a very special daytime volunteer opportunity coming in September! Doorstep is one of our mission partners and September is the month our church was chosen to supply volunteers on Mondays and Thursdays. The volunteer spots are indoors at Doorstep (1119 SW 10th) and are available in either a 3-hour morning or a 2-hour afternoon shift. Use this link to sign up to help our mission partner Doorstep!

If it is easier for you to volunteer during the evening, our mission partner Topeka North Outreach has volunteer spots open the first Thursday of each month (during the school year) from 6 pm - 7:30 pm at Indian Creek Elementary School, 4303 NE Indian Creek Rd, Topeka, KS 66617. TNO assembles Weekend Food Sacks for 700+ students at 14 area schools and community centers in an effort to alleviate childhood hunger in Topeka and to encourage children in need. Volunteers should go directly to the school to volunteer. Use this link to sign up to help our mission partner, Topeka North Outreach! Since Shawna will be gone the next two Sundays for the mission trip, please be sure to click this link to sign up to be a greeter during the service you normally attend.

Blessings,

Pastor Brad
