Greetings Topeka First UMC,

I hope that you are having a great week as we are now just a few days from Christmas! 

This past week has been a great one in the life of our church. Last Sunday afternoon, the children of our church held their annual Christmas program. What a great afternoon of spreading Christmas cheer and celebrating the children of our church! Special thanks to Children’s Director Deanna Guzman for putting together such a great program and thank you to all of the children and youth for participating! Last Monday night, Pastor Grace took a group of young adults from our church to Zoo Lights. Also on Monday, Deanna and the Bell Choir performed at Zoo Lights! We posted a short video of the Bell Choir on Facebook…check it out if you missed it. It must have been a Methodist takeover of Zoo Lights! Thanks to everyone who attended and played! 

This Sunday is the last Sunday of Advent! Christmas is just five days away! To celebrate the last Sunday of Advent, beginning at 10:30 am, there will be special music with brass and percussion. Have you ever received a gift at Christmas time and thought you might have gotten the best gift ever? On Sunday, our theme revolves around the perfect Christmas gift. I hope you will join us at 8:15 am, 9:30 am, or 10:45am (or online)!

Thanks to those who have ordered their poinsettia and designated it in memory or in honor of someone.  There are 25 left, $10 each, so if you'd like to order one, be sure to turn in the slip from your bulletin to Shawna by Sunday or use this link to order one.

The Quilter group donated 7 quilts for the Christmas season to the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment and also 9 baby size quilts to the Lifeline Women's Resource Center here in Topeka!  Thank you Quilters!
